HMS Belfast's 4-inch guns in action at night off the Normandy beach-head, 27 June 1944 (IWM neg A24325) |
HMS
Belfast is launching a fundraising appeal to help raise vital funds to preserve her for future generations.
Having served throughout the many theatres of the Second World War, from the sub-zero temperatures of the Arctic Convoys to the shrapnel charged beaches of the Normandy landings, HMS Belfast is now in need of your support.
It costs the Imperial War Museum more than £2,000 a day to maintain HMS Belfast and to keep her open to the public. As she gets older the challenges facing her get bigger - and more expensive. You can help to preserve and maintain her in top condition and also support our award winning education programmes so that future generations can see how her crew lived and fought in her.
Help us to ensure that the 270,000 visitors, 60,000 pupils and over 5,500 children who ‘Kip on the Ship’ every year can continue to experience naval life and history in the twentieth century.
She’s done her bit. Here’s the opportunity to do yours!
You can donate online to the appeal, or visit us with your family and friends and donate Gift Aid on your admission ticket. All funds from admission to the ship help to maintain and preserve her for the future.
