As part the Big Draw 2007 national event, HMS Belfast held an exciting art activity onboard throughout the October half term, ending on 28 October 2007. The theme of the event was to Paint the crew.
During the Second World War HMS Belfast was home to a crew of 950 men! From time to time all the sailors, known as the ship's company, would gather on deck for a huge group photograph. As part of National Big Draw, we wanted to paint our own giant ship's company canvas and we enlisted the help of our young and some not so young visitors in painting self-portraits to add to our huge canvas!
We would like to thank all the Families and Children who contributed to the painting and for making this a truly special half term event.
Below is a gallery of some of the pictures added to the canvas so far, don't worry if you can't see you picture yet, we are still adding drawings and hope to have the canvas completed in the next couple of weeks!
