Education session on board HMS Belfast
A visit to HMS Belfast provides endless learning opportunities for all ages

Presentations, hands-on activities and workshops are available for groups of formal and informal learners and have been designed to help deliver the National Curriculum outcomes. By having and education session you can:

  • Discover that HMS Belfast was more than just a warship - it was a floating community of up to 950 sailors
  • Learn more about life at sea by listening to the memories of the men who served on board
  • Try on original uniforms and handle historical artefacts
  • Support classroom learning and help deliver key skills that allow students to be creative thinkers and reflective learners.

By booking your pupils into a session, you are giving them the opportunity to learn about HMS Belfast’s career in the Royal Navy and the lives of the men who lived and served on board.

Areas covered include the ship’s role as an escort on the Russian convoys, a bombarding force at D-Day and explores the idea of the ship as a floating community of 950 men. Original artefacts, audio-visual reconstructions and life-like models help to bring HMS Belfast's dramatic story to life.
