Visits from 6th Formers and those in higher education are welcomed, including students from Naval colleges and cadets. All those aged between 16 and 18 who are still in full-time education gain free access and must be accompanied by supervising adults.
A visit is particularly relevant to those studying the Modern World A-Level syllabus - the ship's life began with the Anglo German Naval Agreement of 1935, saw her guard the convoys delivering arms to Stalin's Russia and leading the bombardment at Juno and Gold beaches on D-Day during the Second World War, and engaged in one of the early conflicts of the Cold War in Korea in the early 1950s.
We have established links with the HMS Belfast Association, whose members are more than willing to come in and talk to students about their experiences.
Illustrated talks and educational sessions are free of charge and can be tailor made to suit your group's focus of study - simply contact the Education Office to book on 020 7940 6323, or 020 7940 6336 or e-mail hms-edu@iwm.org.uk.
