An online community group for teachers. Site includes news, career advice, good practice guidelines and classroom resources. Learning resources for all aspects of history. Includes timelines, sounds, special resources such as Children of World War Two (produced in association with the Imperial War Museum), Scotland during the Second World War, a reconstruction of a First World War trench and Modern World History. Suitable for primary and secondary level. An online educational site developed by the BBC in association with the Imperial War Museum. An excellent resource which can be used alone, or in conjunction with the BBC Zig Zag programme. Photographs, letters, an insight into how people lived in the 1940s, plus a Rationing Challenge game! Parents and teachers guidance notes are included. Civvy Street in World War Two, a personal account by Tom Fletcher, who was 11 years old when war broke out. His family lived near the Bristol Aeroplane Company in Filton, and were subjected to terrifying air raids. He and his brother were evacuated, and he recalls the events leading up to VE and VJ days. Includes sound and images. The Imperial War Museum has reciprocal web links with The Curriculum Resource Service, East Dunbartonshire which provides a service aiming to enrich the learning experience of pupils in that area. |
